Ms. Redmond grew up in Brooklyn, New York and moved to South Carolina when she was 13 years old. She is the oldest of three children. She then moved to Newberry in December of 2003, just after she started with Newberry Family Health Center.
Shakisha has known ever since she was in the 5th grade that she wanted to work as a medical professional, and attributes her inspiration to her grandmother, Juanita, who was a nurse.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Talladega College in Alabama in 1994. She then attended Jackson State University from 1994-1996, where she received her Master of Science degree in Biology. After extensive study, Ms. Redmond earned her PA training from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Shakisha has been married to her husband Shun Redmond, Sr. for eight years, and they have one son, Shun Jr who is 7 years old. She enjoys reading, playing co-ed softball, and spending time with family & friends.
